Mica is a naturally occurring mineral that is widely used in the atomic force microscopy as a substrate. After cleaving, mica surface formed atomically smooth parts of the area of thousands of square micrometers, which makes the process of samples preparation and observation simple and convenient. Mica is used with any uncharged or positively charged samples and allows, after easy additional treatment, to work with the negatively charged objects, for instance such as DNA. In addition, it is the ideal support for preparation of the substrates with the deposited metals, for example gold.

The parameters of the mica plates:

• the thickness is 0.1-0.3 mm

• size is 50 x 40mm²
